About this archive

This vault presents the written work of David Bussell as 652 entries (63 books, 589 pieces) in two spheres, Works (165) and AI-Assisted Work (487), assembled from 2,255 source items — Substack posts, local manuscripts and YouTube recordings — each of which was given exactly one status in a final source-to-archive audit (19 October 2026).

Works. Written by David Bussell.

AI-Assisted Work. Developed alongside David Bussell's unfolding theoretical work. The theory and thought are his; the prose is AI-generated.

Nothing dated before November 10, 2025 is AI-assisted.

Each entry is placed whole in one sphere; no text was rewritten. At the author's request, AI-generated reflections on a text or on his own work (summaries, translations, clarifications, readings) were removed; they are listed under Exclusions. Also at the author's request, 5 further entries and 22 passages (34,135 words, from 5 volumes) were removed; the rest of each volume is unchanged. Literary works and transcribed lectures are Works, except The American Comedy, which is AI-Assisted Work. Entries whose earliest content predates 2025-11-10 (The Unified Band Theory of Human Consciousness and Language) are Works. From that date, essays and treatises were classified by the AI-assisted reading log, a stylometric comparison with the author's own prose, and assistant-style markers, with uncertain entries checked by reading. Borderline cases may be reclassified by the author.

  • Entries: 652 (63 books, 589 pieces: Works 41 books / 124 pieces, 2,433,833 words; AI-Assisted Work 22 books / 465 pieces, 2,187,144 words). STANDALONE source items = 652 = entry count; every entry has exactly one canonical source.
  • Zero missing: all 1703 standalone/enfolded written items have ≥95% of their normalized passages present in the archive (minimum 95.0%), apart from the passages removed at the author's request (below) and the Nine Devils monograph portion of The Enfleshment Machine post (cut as excluded commentary, below). 1645 are ≥95% inside their single target entry; 37 are multi-work compilations or combined manuscripts whose passages are present, once each, across 2–6 entries (listed in accounting.csv, column also_in).
  • Zero duplication: passage-level check of every entry against every other entry (8-gram exact or 5-gram fuzzy, 40-word passages): 0 unapproved pairs ≥50%, 0 pairs ≥80%. 24 further pairs share 30–49% (recurring poems and theory passages re-used across his books), listed in lineage/audit_overlaps_30_50.csv. No two entries share a title except the two distinct 2026-05-15 posts both titled The Jungle (different texts; a third same-titled post is catalogued under its subtitle).
  • Approved shared material (exception approved by David, 19 Oct 2026): THE TOTAL OPERATOR TEXT (MASTER DOC 1) and Theatre of the Chimera share 50.5% of Total Operator's passages; PHILOS and Keepers of the Hidden Flame share 54.1% of PHILOS's passages. These are legitimate shared material between separate books, not duplicates: each is kept as its own book, the earlier merges were undone, and the pairs are recorded as APPROVED-SHARED in lineage/audit_overlaps_30_50.csv. The World Soul remains inside The Journey of the Soul.
  • AI reflections removed (19 Oct 2026, author request): 102 AI-generated documents that reflect on, summarize, translate, clarify or interpret a text or his own work were removed from the AI-assisted sphere and are counted as commentary exclusions (SPHERES/removed_reflections.csv). Their former URLs redirect to the AI-assisted sphere.
  • American Mythology (19 Oct 2026): the 454-page book American Mythology: Orations on Baseball, History, and the Human Spirit (2025-07-29) was added as a book; its 28 chapters held 28 former entries (27 Substack chapter posts and the Cuba (1864-1908) book with its 3 enfolded posts), which are now enfolded in it, with their 30 recordings attached at chapter level. Their former URLs redirect to the matching chapter. (The Publication of) American Mythology (an announcement) is a non-work exclusion.
  • Removed at the author's request (19 Oct 2026): 5 AI-assisted entries (1 book, 4 pieces; 38,018 words; 9 source items incl. 4 enfolded in one of them) were removed whole, status EXCLUDED-AUTHOR-REQUEST; their former URLs redirect to the AI-Assisted Work index. In addition 22 passages (342 paragraphs, 34,051 words) were removed from five Absolute volumes (Vols XI–XV), together with the 10 contents-page lines (84 words) naming sections removed in full — 34,135 words in all; the rest of each volume is unchanged, and the word counts shown are net of the removal. Sources are untouched; the build excludes this material and the reconciliation accounts for every removed word (SPHERES/women_exclusions.csv, SPHERES/women_redactions.json).
  • AI-Assisted de-duplication and sorting (19 Oct 2026): a passage-level pass over all 492 AI-Assisted entries (pieces vs pieces, pieces vs AI books, AI entries vs Works) with 8-/5-gram shingle containment plus sentence-level near-verbatim tracing found 13 pieces that were earlier drafts, condensations or retitled versions of a larger or later AI-Assisted entry (42.7–87.8% of their sentences traced in the container, 14–71% near-verbatim). They are enfolded in that container under an Enfolded: heading that carries every paragraph not already present; their former URLs redirect to that heading (SPHERES/ai_dedup.csv, 116 logged decisions; lineage/ai_fold_redirects.csv). No AI book duplicates another, nothing was folded into or out of the Works sphere, and THE TOTAL OPERATOR TEXT and PHILOS stay standalone (approved shared material). The AI-Assisted index is now arranged in 19 thematic sections (books first), chronological within each, with 27 series linked part-to-part; 59 titles were normalised for display (original titles kept) and 123 dates corrected from the UTC to the America/New_York publication date (SPHERES/ai_groups.csv).
  • Mac Downloads scan (19 Oct 2026): ~/Downloads (2,961 document files; 294 traced passage by passage against the archive) held 10 works not in the archive; all were added whole, plus, at the author's request, his essay The Cosmology of Vladimir Mayakovsky:
    • Works, human by the date rule (before 2025-11-10): De-civilizational Violence: Notes on a Modern Iconomachy (book, 2024-01-04, 48 pp, 4 images); about a quarter of its passages are shared with Aesthetic Theory (cross-reference, no fold). Pieces: Hornsby, Gehrig, Speaker: A Triptych of Transformation (2025-01-08), Playing With The Void (2024-12-02), The American Revolution in Art History (2025-03-15) and The Cosmology of Vladimir Mayakovsky (2021-11-04, author request; about three quarters of it also appears in Masks, ABS-08, recorded as approved shared material, no fold).
    • AI-Assisted Work, by author decision (David, 19 Oct 2026: "All of them are ai except de civilizational violence"), recorded in spheres.py READ_DECISIONS. Five books: The Adequate Man, The Ninth Artifact, The Third Body, Untitled: A Novel and The Secure Room (play). One piece: The Final Act: The Ledger of the Long Night. All date from July–August 2026. A reading check and the fiction voice model (p(AI) 0.72–0.99) agree with the decision (local/raw/downloads_scan/voice/VERDICTS.md). The books are in the AI index's Books section; the piece is under Language, Literature & Composition.
    • Additional passages appended from older drafts (2026-04-05 Law of Being drafts, the 2025 Algorithmic Code of Humanity, furnaceFIN):
      • BK-LAW: Part V Falsifiability Conditions, 1,923 words;
      • BK-TECH: the opening sections of The Algorithmic Code of Humanity, 2,637 words;
      • ABS-05: 384 words.
    • Excluded as commentary on his own works: The Arc and Ancestry of Bleu d'âme, The Book Dreams According to Your Laws (on Nine Devils) and The Weather of the Dead (on Sol White's Book of the Dead).
    • Not carried: the César López letters in the June 2025 Cuba drafts (not his text), and four early, fully rewritten Nine Devils drafts (2026-07-19), which are lineage-only appearances of The American Comedy. Line-level edit residue in Scroll of the Passion Play, Artimaeus and Soul-vale, plus Substack page clutter, was skipped.
    • 25 source items were added: 11 canonical, 2 PDF exports, 1 identical copy, 8 draft variants and 3 commentary exclusions.
  • Full read of Works (19 Oct 2026): the full reading of the Works sphere flagged 7 entries for a tool-assisted or chat-assistant register; each was re-read whole against his lecture and essay voice. One was moved to AI-Assisted Work, Compressed Systems: An Ontology of Persistence Under Entropy (2026-01-08): its abstract, maxims, bullet summaries and terminal proposition, 42% of the words and the whole frame, are assistant register. The other six stay in Works: Baudelaire (20% AI), The World's Midnight (30%, lectures), Geist (28%, lectures), Material Shock Absorption (ChatGPT is a subject, not a tool), The Function of Revolutionary Art, and BK-TECH, which predates 10 Nov 2025 although its section VIII is a pasted chatbot answer (SPHERES/fullread_ai_review.csv; that section was then moved out, see below). Entry URLs are unchanged.
  • Section VIII of BK-TECH moved to AI-Assisted Work (20 Oct 2026, author decision): section VIII of The Algorithmic Code of Humanity (BK-TECH, listed as Tech/Modernity + Ossawon Philosophy Unity), The Origins of Technological Code (2,129 words), is a pasted chatbot answer on the 1909 E90-1 George Mullin card ("Let’s walk through it clearly:", "This is the ghost of every JPEG"). It was cut from the book and is now its own AI-Assisted entry, dated with the book (2025-03-26), in the AI index's Early Essays section, with a note that it was originally section VIII of the book. Its id is the one the same text had as a 2025-03-26 Substack post (P-the-origins-of-technological-code-e9c1aa62); that address used to redirect to the book and is now the entry itself. The book keeps sections I–VII (no renumbering needed: VIII was the last numbered section of that part) and is 2,129 words shorter (45,694 → 43,565); the Substack post is now the new entry's STANDALONE source item instead of ENFOLDED in BK-TECH. Sources are untouched; the move is a sha1-checked patch applied at build time (SPHERES/section_moves.json, used by ingest-lineage.mjs, spheres.py, reconcile.py, ai_groups_build.py), and the reconciliation accounts for both sides word for word.
  • Final Substack completeness review (20 Oct 2026, approved by David): every post on both Substacks was pulled back to the first one (davidbussellarchive.substack.com and david828085.substack.com) and traced against the live archive. Applied by vault-site/scripts/apply_substack_final.py from SPHERES/substack_final_decisions.json (idempotent):
    • Four missing david828085 posts added to Works (human) as standalone pieces, with their Substack source links, in his Dec 2025 shamanism / Jaguar Tree era: The Reemergence of Pre-Linguistic Shamanism in Nietzsche and Fin de siecle Paris (essay, 2025-12-05, 1,896 words; author confirmed it is his, text kept as published), Shamanic Boundaries: The Face (essay, 2025-12-05, 1,256 words), Agony | Absalom | The Unvanquished (poem, 2025-12-09, 939 words) and The Dead (poem, 2025-12-10, 406 words). Spheres: the poems in sphere_common.LITERARY_PIECES, the essays in spheres.py READ_DECISIONS.
    • Two newly listed david828085 posts accounted as enfolded: Jaguar Tree | Leopard Spirit | Blood Stone | Bardo in Jaguar Tree / Bardo (99.4%) and The Olmec Werejaguar in Sol White's Book of the Dead (100%; also in Theatre of the Chimera).
    • Passages restored inline, in source order: the ~410-word Conclusion of The Mines Below / The Disjected (which also covers the 116 words missing from The Mills Below Everything) and the Closure block of First Principles and the two Human Case definitions of Theoretical Minimum into The Law of Being & The General Theory of Magnitude (+676 words with the appendix below); section VIII Consequences of The Law of Energetic Load and Spacetime Regulation (closing statement renumbered IX, as in the post) and the heavy-elements sentences of THE LAW OF BEING: The Unified Field… into The Law of Being: The Unified Field of Persistence… (+248 words with the appendix below).
    • Variants appended (the entry already carries a revised version, so the Substack wording is kept in an Additional passages / variants — from Substack (final review, 2026-10-20) section rather than duplicated inline): the 133-word First Principles preface (General Theory of Magnitude); the Meaning After Myth sentence and the Threshold Artifact Principle gate and ontos sentences (Unified Field book); the UFT: The Law of Being sentence (A Unified Field Theory of All Life…, +105); the Blue Vates stanza (THE TOTAL OPERATOR TEXT, +89); the Book 1 stanza and one Sol White's Book of the Dead line (Sol White's Book of the Dead, +156).
    • Not restored, by decision: the chat-assistant line in The Threshold Artifact ("Here is a clean, formal addendum you can drop directly after…") stays stripped; nothing under the women exclusions/redactions was restored.
    • The Enfleshment Machine: the text of A Monograph on Nine Devils (7,537 words; excluded as commentary on his own work) is cut from the book at build (SPHERES/section_moves.json, cut ENFLESH-MONOGRAPH); the entry is now 8,056 words (was 15,593) and its contents list no longer has the monograph's sections I–XIV.
    • The overlap of The New Phase of This Unfolding Work is left as is.
  • New lecture (21 Oct 2026, author request: "its my work. my speech."): The Consequences of Ontology: Persistence, Cosmological Being, and Radical Play (Lecture 10/21/26), his own transcript as published on Substack (2026-10-21, 5,002 words), added to Works as a standalone lecture with its YouTube recording (@DavidBussell--Lectures, wuTfpYoRGF8) embedded; no transcript was generated. Passage containment against the whole archive: 0.38% of its passages occur elsewhere (at most 0.12% in any one entry), so it is new text and nothing was folded. No material about women to exclude. Applied by vault-site/scripts/add_new_lecture_2026_10_21.py.
  • Integrity: every enfolded item points to a live entry; no chains (former entries resolved to their final container); YouTube matched by metadata only (no transcript entries).
